The Alan Shearer Specialist Residential home is specifically designed and staffed to serve the complex needs of adults from the age of 17 with disabilities and challenging behaviours.

Residents live in a comfortable and enabling environment and have unlimited access to the specialist recreational, sensory and social facilities provided by the adjoining Alan Shearer Activity Centre.

The Alan Shearer Specialist Residential home is tailored to the individual needs of adults with physical or learning disabilities. Please contact Manager, Jackie Dunn on 0191 2641282 or email with details of your personal requirements 

The Alan Shearer Activity Centre is the only provision of its kind in the North East to offer free recreational, sensory and social facilities for disabled children and adults, their families, schools and groups.

To use our free facilities, you first need to become a member of the centre and you can join by downloading an application form from our webside:

Being a member of the Activity Centre gives you free access to a range of specialised facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory cave and sensory rooms, giant ball pool and creative music room. We also have adapted outside play areas and an accessible woodland walk and our own on-site cafe, Browne's.

You must book your session before arriving at the centre.
