The child minder has a large selection of toys for all ages, from Rabo taxi Trikes, ride on cars, play shop with tills and toy food. There is also a wooden dolls house with furnisher and wooden people, a wooden Tool bench. The setting has outdoor tractors a balancing bike with scooters, Lego, dressing up, dolls and push chairs and farm animal,  Barbie’s, wooden dolls house and games, Dora and Peppa pig toys, musical instruments, puzzles, tents, and lots of books and cars, play stations and lots and lots of other toys.

The children use the vegetable patch to grow runner beans and other vegetables.  The garden has a 6 foot fence all around and a side gate for emergence evacuation.

The child minders house is wheelchair friendly and has a ramp leading to the front door and wider doors for easy access.

 The Child Minder

The child minder was registered in 25/02/2005.  She lives with her Husband and two young children. Rachel is 12 years old and Leon 7 years old.

The child minders last Ofsted inspection was graded as Outstanding with 13/14 of Ofsted’s aspects as outstanding.

‘I decided to become a child minder as I loved to spend time with my children, and wanted to be around them as much as I could when they were growing up.  I understand how hard it is for parents to leave their children, so I try to make my home as warm and inviting as possible. Most of the children I look after I have had for many years, and my children all love having minded friends to grow up with.’

The child minder is part of the Ashington Child minders support network.  The network child minders regularly meet up at local toddler groups, the child minders drop in and the local children’s soft play area three times a week.

The child minder attends Toddler groups at the children’s centre on a Friday morning.  In addition to this the child minder takes the children to the local soft play area once a month joined by some of the Ashington network child minders, who also accompany the child minder on regular trips arranged at the groups.  For example a trip to lake side, for a country walk around the river and feed the ducks.

This is great for the children as they feel part of a wider community and they have the opportunity to mix with other minded children.  The children have become good friends with other minded children and this has helped them with building their confidence and self esteem.
